The Opportunity
We are recruiting on behalf of niche client looking to appoint an experienced Management Accountant / Finance Manager on a Part-Time basis to support a diverse portfolio of businesses and personal financial interests in the Cambridge area.
This is a varied role where no two days are the same.
You'll take ownership of the management accounts across several entities, providing accurate financial information while supporting budgeting, forecasting and continual improvements to reporting.
Working within a small finance team in a quiet office environment, this role would suit someone who enjoys autonomy, takes pride in producing high-quality work and understands the importance of confidentiality and discretion.
Responsibilities
- Produce monthly and quarterly management accounts for multiple entities.
- Prepare meaningful management reports using Sage and Excel.
- Extract financial data from Sage and manipulate it within Excel to produce accurate management reporting.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns.
- Process bank payments and manage petty cash.
- Assist with payroll accounting, including posting payroll journals and understanding salary sacrifice arrangements.
- Prepare P11Ds.
- Assist with annual budgeting and cash flow forecasting.
- Analyse costs across different businesses and properties to provide meaningful financial insight.
- Continuously improve existing reporting processes and management information.
- Ensure financial records are accurate and maintained in line with current legislation, including Making Tax Digital requirements.
- Support year-end processes and liaise with external accountants where required.
About You
- We're looking for someone who combines strong technical accounting knowledge with excellent analytical skills and the confidence to work independently.
β’ You'll ideally have
- Previous experience producing full management accounts.
- Strong Sage experience.
- Advanced Excel skills, including: Pivot Tables, Lookup functions, Data manipulation
- Building and improving reporting packs
- Experience preparing VAT returns.
- Budgeting and forecasting experience.
- Good understanding of payroll accounting and related journals.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- A proactive approach with the confidence to solve problems independently.
- Outstanding organisational skills.
- Absolute discretion when handling confidential financial information.
