A well-established and growing accountancy practice is looking to recruit a Senior Accountant to join their central Bristol office.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified or finalist / QBE accountant looking to take on an opportunity to manage their own portfolio of clients with exposure to a broad range of clients and accounting assignments within a supportive general practice environment.

Role
The successful candidate will manage their own portfolio of clients, providing a proactive and high-quality service across accounts, taxation, and advisory matters.
This is a client-facing role requiring strong technical expertise, commercial awareness, and the ability to build long-term client relationships.
The Senior Accountant will take ownership of a diverse portfolio of SMEs, limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders, acting as a trusted adviser while ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Portfolio Management
- Manage a portfolio of clients across a range of industries.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing timely advice and support.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, identifying opportunities to add value.
- Accounts Preparation
- Review and prepare statutory accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders.
- Ensure compliance with UK GAAP, FRS102, and FRS105 requirements.
- Review work completed by junior team members and provide constructive feedback.
- Liaise with clients to resolve technical and accounting queries.
- Tax Compliance
- Review corporation tax returns and computations.
- Review personal tax returns for directors, business owners, and high-net-worth individuals.
- Identify tax planning opportunities and discuss recommendations with clients.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK tax legislation.
- Advisory Services
- Support clients with management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Provide business and financial advice to help clients achieve their objectives.
- Support directors and partners with specialist projects and consultancy assignments.
- Team Leadership
- Mentor and develop junior accountants and trainees.
- Review work and ensure compliance with firm standards.
Person Specification
- ACA or ACCA qualified or finalist or QBE
- Strong background working within an accountancy practice environment.
- Experience managing a client portfolio independently.
