Due to a period of significant growth, we are scaling our rail manufacturing operation considerably and have an excellent opportunity for an experienced welding quality professional to take ownership of welding systems, procedures and standards at Bespoke Stairlifts Ltd.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Welding Quality Engineer to build and embed robust welding quality systems during an important period of operational growth. As the Welding Quality Engineer, you will act as the named Responsible Welding Coordinator, translating customer requirements into a practical welding QMS aligned with ISO 3834 and ISO 14731. The Welding Quality Engineer will improve procedures, support welder competence, strengthen audit readiness and help the manufacturing team take ownership of welding standards.

DUTIES
- Welding QMS Implementation: Build, embed and maintain a practical welding quality management system based around customer requirements.
- Procedure Development: Develop and adapt pWPS, WPQR, WPS documentation and SOPs that reflect real shopfloor conditions.
- Welder Competence: Qualify and support welders, maintain competence records and coach teams to improve consistency.
- Process Surveillance: Carry out in-process surveillance and ensure welding procedures are adopted and sustained across the operation.
- Non-Conformance Management: Lead investigations through to root cause analysis, corrective action and effective prevention.
- Dimensional and Profile Control: Own quality control across tube forming, fabrication and welding processes.
- Audit Readiness: Prepare and maintain the business for customer, certification body and third-party audits.
- Compliance Standards: Support ongoing alignment with ISO 3834, ISO 14731 and customer welding requirements.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL
- Proven background in welding quality within a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Experience building, maintaining or improving welding quality systems, procedures and SOPs.
- Working knowledge of ISO 3834 and ISO 14731.
- Strong understanding of welding compliance, audit preparation and quality assurance.
- Ability to lead non-conformance investigations, root cause analysis and corrective action.
- Confident approach to coaching, influencing and embedding standards on the shopfloor.
- Quality-first mindset with the drive to improve processes and sustain change.
DESIRABLE
- CSWIP 3.1 qualification.
- IWE or IWT qualification.
- Background in regulated or safety-critical manufacturing.
- Experience within rail, lifting equipment or structural steel fabrication.
