Are you an experienced engineering design professional looking for an opportunity to take ownership of major projects and lead multidisciplinary design delivery? We are currently recruiting for a Design Lead professional to join an established and growing Design team based in Bradford. This is a senior technical role suited to someone with a strong engineering design background who is confident coordinating projects and working closely with clients, consultants and contractors.

You will take responsibility for technical delivery from early concept through to detailed design and construction support, working alongside designers, engineers, BIM teams and specialist consultants to develop coordinated and buildable solutions.

Key Responsibilities as Design Lead:

  • Lead multidisciplinary design and technical coordination across allocated projects
  • Take ownership of design delivery from concept through detailed design and construction support
  • Develop and review drawings, BIM models, technical details, specifications and design documentation
  • Coordinate engineering designs across civil, mechanical, MEP, structural and other relevant disciplines
  • Review technical calculations, contractor submissions, RFIs and shop drawings
  • Lead design reviews, identify technical risks and ensure designs are coordinated and buildable
  • Act as a key technical contact for clients, architects, engineers and contractors

What we're looking for as a Design Lead:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience within an engineering design environment
  • Strong engineering design and multidisciplinary coordination experience
  • Background in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, MEP/building services, drainage, water, infrastructure or a multidisciplinary consultancy
  • Experience working within BIM-led environments, with familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Revit
  • Strong understanding of technical drawings, engineering interfaces and construction requirements
  • Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills, with confidence working directly with clients and project teams
  • Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent professional experience in a relevant engineering discipline; professional accreditation would be advantageous
