This Assistant Test Engineer role will suit a mechanically minded Engineer looking to develop specialist hydraulic expertise, while working on a wide range of pumps, motors, valves, gearboxes and hydraulic equipment. You'll be expected to work independently and as part of the team, producing high quality work to tight tolerances with a right first time attitude.
Working alongside experienced professionals, you'll be responsible for:
- Testing hydraulic components such as pumps, motors and ancillary equipment
- Fault finding and detailed inspection work
- Compiling test certificates and performance graphs
- Working on units from a variety of manufacturers
- Assisting with service work when required
- Reporting to the Test Supervisor and Technical Manager
This position offers extensive training and development, making it ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving and is eager to expand their technical knowledge.
We are looking for a practical, reliable and motivated individual who takes pride in delivering high-quality work. Ideally, you will have:
- NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering qualification or equivalent
- Experience working within an engineering, manufacturing or workshop environment
- Understanding of hydraulic systems and components (desirable but not essential)
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical or hydraulic drawings and schematics
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Good IT literacy, including Microsoft Office programmes
- Understanding of workshop health and safety practices
- A positive attitude and genuine desire to learn and develop new technical skills
- Previous hydraulic testing experience would be advantageous but is not essential, as comprehensive training will be provided.
