An opportunity for an experienced Toolmaker to join an established manufacturing business. This is a varied, hands-on role focused on the manufacture, modification and improvement of tooling, fixtures, prototypes and production solutions within the automotive sector.
Toolmaker Responsibilities:
- Manufacture, modify, repair and maintain press tools, forming tools, jigs and fixtures
- Build and prove tooling for new products and processes
- Diagnose tooling and production issues and develop effective solutions
- Work from engineering drawings, CAD models and technical specifications
- Carry out precision fitting, assembly and bench work
- Support machining, fabrication and tooling trials
- Work closely with design, CNC, production and maintenance teams
- Improve existing tooling to increase reliability, quality and output
Toolmaker Experience:
- Recognised toolmaking/engineering apprenticeship or equivalent experience
- Strong background in toolmaking, precision engineering or a similar environment
- Experience with press tools, forming tools, jigs and fixtures
- Good understanding of engineering drawings, tolerances and fits
- Manual machining and precision fitting experience
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Experience proving or developing tooling on production machinery
