We are currently supporting a well-established and highly regarded law firm with the recruitment of a Legal Secretary to join the business on a 6-month fixed-term contract to provide maternity cover.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Legal Secretary who thrives in a busy, fast-paced environment.

While previous legal experience would be advantageous, we're also keen to hear from candidates with strong secretarial or PA experience gained in other professional services or corporate environments.

You'll play a key role in supporting fee earners with a wide range of administrative and secretarial duties, helping to ensure the smooth running of the team and delivering an excellent service to both colleagues and clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to fee earners.
  • Managing busy inboxes, prioritising emails and responding where appropriate.
  • Proactively managing diaries, scheduling meetings and coordinating appointments.
  • Handling incoming calls and correspondence in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Audio and copy typing of attendance notes, legal documents and client correspondence.
  • Preparing, formatting and amending documents to a high standard.
  • Opening, maintaining and closing client files.
  • Organising and managing electronic and paper filing systems.
  • Assisting with billing, document production and general administrative support.
  • Supporting the wider team to ensure deadlines are met and work is delivered efficiently.

About You

The successful candidate will have

  • Previous experience working as a Secretary, Legal Secretary, Personal Assistant or Executive Assistant.
  • Experience managing busy inboxes and complex diaries.
  • Strong audio and copy typing skills with excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • A proactive and professional approach with a strong customer service focus.
  • Previous experience within a law firm would be beneficial but is not essential. Candidates from other professional services or corporate environments are encouraged to apply.
