Are you a Chartered Health & Safety professional with experience leading H&S teams within a complex operational environment? This is an excellent opportunity to join a major UK infrastructure organisation on an initial 6-month contract, taking responsibility for the day-to-day leadership of an established Health & Safety function.

You will oversee three specialist teams comprising nine H&S professionals, acting as the senior point of escalation for complex operational, technical and legal matters across the business. The role is mainly remote, and candidates can be based anywhere in the UK, with occasional travel required for team meetings and wider business needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Health & Safety leader looking to take ownership of an established function within a major UK organisation, with excellent flexibility around location and working arrangements.

The Role:

  • Lead and support three specialist H&S teams, nine people in total
  • Act as the senior escalation point for complex H&S, legal and compliance matters
  • Oversee incident investigations, audits, risk assessments and H&S governance
  • Provide expert advice and direction to senior leaders and operational teams
  • Support continuous improvement across safety performance, processes and culture

The Person:

  • Experienced Head of Health & Safety or senior H&S leader
  • Proven experience leading and developing H&S teams
  • Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and legal frameworks
  • CMIOSH and NEBOSH Diploma essential
  • Confident decision-maker who can remain calm under pressure and influence senior stakeholders
  • CDM knowledge and experience within infrastructure, utilities, engineering, construction, energy or telecoms advantageous
