We are currently looking for a Business Development Executive to join our busy team in New Frankley in Birmingham (B45 OLD) — where every conversation can open doors to new growth.

Hours of Work: full time

As our Business Development Executive, you'll deliver sales growth across your defined geographical area by developing new opportunities and strengthening existing accounts.

You'll take a consultative approach, learning customers' industrial control and automation challenges, then presenting solutions that genuinely add value.

You'll build trust with customers, manufacturers and colleagues, support marketing activity such as campaigns and promotions, and stay close to the local market by maintaining a strong presence in-branch.

Along the way, you'll keep developing your technical knowledge and sharpen your sales skills through continuous learning and training.

Business Development Executive Duties

  • Deliver sales growth through the development of both new and existing businesses within the defined geographical area.
  • Build trust and develop strong relationships with customers, manufacturers, and colleagues to achieve 'win-win' outcomes.
  • Adopt a consultative approach to sales, presenting solutions that deliver value and help solve industrial control and automation challenges.
  • Balance prospecting for new business with enhancing relationships across your existing portfolio.
  • Maintain a strong presence in the BPX branch to stay close to customers and the local market.
  • Support marketing activities such as campaigns, promotions and events to increase awareness of product launches.
  • Commit to learning, development and training across both technical and non-technical areas.

Business Development Executive Requirements

  • Experience in B2B sales, ideally with knowledge of the industrial distribution market.
  • Drive sales growth by building opportunities across new and existing accounts/partnerships.
  • Understand the market dynamics between manufacturers, distributors and customers.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills, with a genuine team-first mindset.
  • Customer-centric, organised and able to prioritise, with confidence using CRM systems and producing sales reports.
  • Business Development Executive Benefits: Salary
  • Clear career progression opportunities within a growing, secure organisation.
  • Minimum of 31 days annual leave including bank holidays (increasing with length of service).
  • Access to training and a development platform to support your technical and commercial growth.
  • Friendly, supportive work environment plus dress down Fridays.
  • Additional benefits including free onsite parking, an Employee Assistance Programme, recruitment referral bonus and cycle-to-work support.
  • Meet the Organisation: Who We Are and What We Do

For 60 years, BPX (part of RS Group) has built a reputation as the leading independent distributor of factory automation and control components — from computers to connectors, robots to relays and everything in between.

With over 180 colleagues across 15 locations in the UK & Ireland, we provide a local service to customers who need knowledgeable support.

Our mission is simple: "help to choose, help to use".

We work as the strategic partner to market-leading brands such as Schneider Electric, Mitsubishi, Omron and many more, providing innovative products, solutions and technical support to thousands of customers nationwide.
