MET Technician/MET Strip & Fitter
Location: Basildon, Essex
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum

Our client is a well-established, independent automotive repair and maintenance business with over 30 years of experience delivering exceptional service to customers across Essex. Operating from multiple sites, the company provides vehicle servicing, repairs, commercial vehicle maintenance, and accident repair services from a modern, fully equipped Bodyshop facility.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced MET Technician/MET Strip & Fitter to join their busy Bodyshop team in Basildon.
The Role
As an MET Technician, you will be responsible for dismantling, repairing, and reassembling accident-damaged vehicles to manufacturer standards, ensuring all work is completed to the highest quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Dismantle and rebuild vehicles in line with repair estimates, job cards, and manufacturer repair methods.
- Carry out vehicle alignment checks and adjustments.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
- Identify and report any additional damage not included within the original estimate.
- Work with modern diagnostic equipment, repair technology, and tools.
- Collaborate with panel technicians, painters, and other workshop staff to ensure efficient vehicle throughput.
- Ensure all repairs meet industry and manufacturer standards.
- Assess tooling and equipment requirements and report any faults or defects.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
- Attend training courses and team meetings as required.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience as an MET Technician, Vehicle Technician, or Bodyshop Mechanic.
- ATA, NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualification.
- Hybrid and/or Electric Vehicle certification.
- Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
Desirable (but not essential):
- ADAS calibration experience.
- Four-wheel alignment training and experience.

Monday to Friday: 7:00am - 5:30pm (includes a 30-minute unpaid break)
