We are looking for an experienced and organised Conveyancing Secretary to join our busy and friendly Residential Property team in Basildon.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual with conveyancing experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering exceptional support to fee earners and clients alike.

The Role

Working closely with Solicitors, Conveyancers, and Paralegals, you will play a key role in supporting residential property transactions from instruction through to completion.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Audio and copy typing of legal correspondence and documents.
  • Opening and maintaining client files.
  • Preparing contract packs and legal documentation.
  • Liaising with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders, brokers, and other solicitors.
  • Managing diaries, appointments, and meetings.
  • Handling telephone enquiries and providing client updates.
  • Requesting searches and assisting with post-completion matters.
  • Supporting fee earners with day-to-day administration.
  • Ensuring compliance with firm procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Using case management systems to maintain accurate records.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have

  • Previous experience as a Conveyancing Secretary, Legal Secretary, or Property Legal Assistant.
  • Experience working within a Residential Conveyancing department.
  • Excellent typing and administrative skills.
  • Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Professional and confident communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlines.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Experience using legal case management systems would be advantageous.
