We are recruiting for an experienced Assembly Operative to join a busy and growing aerospace manufacturing team in Basildon.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong engineering background who enjoys precision work and takes pride in producing high-quality components to exact specifications.

Working as part of a dedicated production team, you will be responsible for assembling aircraft components to customer-defined standards, ensuring quality, safety, and delivery targets are consistently achieved.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble aircraft components in line with engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions.
  • Carry out assembly of new parts using solid rivets, hand tools and air riveting equipment.
  • Use drills, rivet presses, rivet guns and other specialist assembly equipment safely and effectively.
  • Perform visual inspections of completed assemblies to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Measure and check components using Verniers and other specialist measuring equipment.
  • Adjust and prepare sheet metal parts ready for assembly.
  • Apply sealants where required.
  • Work with a variety of materials and surface finishes.
  • Support continuous improvement activities across production processes.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping and comply with all health and safety requirements.

What We're Looking For

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Previous assembly experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using solid rivets and air riveting equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Experience using Vernier calipers and precision measuring tools.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal adjustment and assembly techniques.
  • Current experience using air tools such as drills, rivet presses and rivet guns.
  • Experience applying sealants in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience using a variety of hand tools.
