Financial Controller - Part-Time
Long Crendon | 30 hours per week (Flexible on the shift pattern)

Butler Rose is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our client for a commercially minded Financial Controller to join their finance team on a part-time basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified finance professional looking for a flexible, influential role with senior exposure and the chance to make a real impact across the business.

Reporting directly to the UK CFO, this is a key role with responsibility for financial reporting, month-end management accounts, statutory compliance and financial controls.

You will also provide commercial insight through margin analysis, variance reporting and costing information, helping to support decision-making and drive continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities include

  • Leading the month-end close process, reconciliations, management accounts and statutory reporting.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely reporting in line with UK GAAP and Group deadlines.
  • Managing and maintaining costing processes, including annual cost reviews and related analysis.
  • Producing detailed purchase price, production and industrial variance analysis.
  • Leading monthly sales margin reviews and identifying opportunities to improve profitability and cash flow.
  • Working closely with Finance, Sales, Purchasing and Operations teams as a trusted business partner.
  • Supporting budgets, forecasts, ERP developments, automation and continuous improvement projects.
  • Maintaining strong financial controls and compliance across the business.

About you
You will be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with experience in a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or senior finance role.

Experience within manufacturing would be beneficial, particularly where standard costing, stock, margins or operational finance are involved, but we would also welcome candidates from other product-based, project-led or complex commercial environments.

You will be comfortable working with management accounts, financial reporting, controls and commercial analysis, with strong Excel skills and the ability to partner effectively with both finance and non-finance teams.

Exposure to standard costing, Bills of Materials, labour routings or variance analysis would be advantageous, but training and support can be provided for candidates with strong transferable experience.

Experience of D365 would be helpful, although not essential.
