An established and well-respected Derbyshire law firm is seeking an experienced Child Care Solicitor to join its busy Child Care and Family Law Department representing parents and grandparents in care proceedings across Derbyshire.

With a long-standing reputation for delivering high-quality legal services and client-focused representation, the firm has served the local community for many decades and provides expertise across family law, care proceedings, criminal defence, conveyancing and wills and probate.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for a Solicitor with strong experience in public law children matters who is confident handling cases from the pre-proceedings stage through to court advocacy.

The Role

  • Manage a varied caseload of public law children matters, acting for parents and family members where social services are involved in care proceedings or pre-proceedings (PLO).
  • Key responsibilities include:
    • Managing your own Child Care/Public Law Children caseload
    • Representing parents and grandparents in care proceedings
    • Attending Child Protection Conferences
    • Handling Public Law Outline (PLO) meetings
    • Conducting court advocacy
    • Advising clients on care orders, supervision orders and related proceedings
    • Supporting vulnerable clients through complex family law matters
