Our client is a specialist engineering business looking for an experienced Vessel Welder to join their team in Leeming Bar.
This is far from a repetitive production-line welding role. You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of complete vessel builds, working from individual components through to a finished tanker over a typical 2–4 week build cycle.
Working across a variety of specialist projects, you'll be involved in the manufacture of ADR chemical transport vessels, food and dairy tankers, and potable water vessels, where weld quality, structural integrity and attention to detail are absolutely critical.

What you'll be doing
As a Vessel Welder, you'll take responsibility for the complete fabrication and welding process, including:
- Fabricating, fitting and welding road tanker barrels, dished ends, baffles, sumps, sub-frames and mountings.
- TIG and MIG welding stainless steel from 1mm sheet through to 10mm plate and flanges.
- Fabricating and purge-welding hygienic pipework, valves, manifolds and CIP lines.
- Carrying out your own weld preparation, tacking, fit-up, grinding, blending and finishing.
- Reading and interpreting technical fabrication drawings, welding symbols and WPS documentation.
- Working inside vessels and at height on tanker access platforms, with relevant safety training provided.
- Managing your own equipment, purge arrangements and daily workload to keep projects on schedule.
What we're looking for
Our client is looking for a highly skilled and conscientious welder with strong stainless steel TIG and MIG experience.
You'll ideally have:
- Proven experience welding stainless steel from 1mm to 10mm.
- Strong TIG and MIG welding skills.
- Experience with back-purging and hygienic pipework welding.
- The ability to produce high-integrity welds capable of passing NDT, radiography, dye penetrant and hydro testing.
- Strong technical drawing and fabrication skills.
- The ability to work independently and build accurately from drawings.
- Experience working in confined spaces and/or at height would be advantageous.
- Excellent attention to detail and high personal standards.
- A genuine pride in producing quality workmanship.
- A practical welding assessment may form part of the interview process.
