This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Software Engineer - CAM based in Canada.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will take ownership of technically complex, mission-critical products that connect software, AI, IoT data, and the physical world. You’ll define technical strategy and lead the development of new products and platform capabilities from concept through production. Working across backend, frontend, APIs, and potentially mobile, you’ll build scalable experiences that solve real operational challenges. You’ll partner closely with Product, Design, and customer-facing teams to turn ambiguous problems into clear technical direction and measurable outcomes. This is a high-autonomy environment where engineers are expected to shape what gets built rather than simply execute an existing roadmap. You’ll also influence engineering standards, mentor senior engineers, and help establish the technical practices needed to scale globally.

Accountabilities

  • Own technically complex, mission-critical product and platform areas, taking responsibility from initial direction and technical design through launch, operation, and measurable outcomes.

  • Define and drive technical strategy for new products and capabilities spanning backend services, APIs, frontend experiences, and potentially mobile applications.

  • Design and deliver full-stack features end to end, including AI-powered products that translate complex operational data into practical tools for customers.

  • Build and scale systems supporting AI-driven products, including data ingestion pipelines, APIs, services, and workflows that put intelligence directly into the hands of operators.

  • Partner with Product, Design, Customer Success, and other cross-functional teams to translate ambiguous real-world problems into technical plans, priorities, and measurable outcomes.

  • Lead cross-team and cross-functional initiatives from inception through rollout, creating alignment, navigating ambiguity, and ensuring successful delivery.

  • Raise the engineering bar through architecture and design reviews, code reviews, technical mentorship, and strong standards for quality, velocity, reliability, and engineering craft.

  • Mentor senior engineers and influence technical culture, engineering practices, and standards beyond the boundaries of a single team.

  • Champion customer-focused and long-term thinking while helping embed inclusive, growth-oriented, and collaborative engineering practices across the organization.

  • Use modern AI-assisted development tools and workflows to accelerate delivery while maintaining strong engineering rigor and product quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including designing, building, and operating production systems at scale.

  • Strong full-stack engineering fundamentals, with the ability to work across backend services, APIs, and web or mobile frontend technologies.

  • Proficiency with modern programming languages and frameworks such as Go, Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, React, or comparable technologies.

  • Demonstrated experience leading complex projects across teams or organizations, from initial concept through production rollout, while managing ambiguity and driving alignment.

  • Experience building AI-powered or data-driven products and the ability to turn AI capabilities into reliable, customer-focused product experiences without necessarily training models yourself.

  • Strong understanding of system design, scalability, reliability, and production operations, with sound judgment when making technical trade-offs.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for both engineering and non-technical stakeholders.

  • A proven record of building new products or systems, significantly improving existing technology, or solving difficult technical problems that others have struggled to address.

  • Experience working with AI-augmented development workflows, including LLM-based tools or coding assistants.

  • Experience with real-world operational data such as telematics, sensor data, work orders, inspections, or a strong willingness to learn the domain.

  • Demonstrated ability to mentor senior engineers and influence engineering culture, standards, and best practices beyond a single team.

  • Side projects, open-source contributions, or other evidence of technical curiosity and initiative are a plus.

  • Experience delivering AI-powered production features such as LLM applications, agentic workflows, recommendation systems, or other customer-facing AI capabilities is an advantage.

Benefits

  • Annual base salary range of $154,800–$212,850 CAD, with actual offers varying based on location, skills, experience, and other job-related factors.

  • Eligibility for an initial RSU grant with no vesting cliff, plus potential ongoing equity refresh opportunities tied to performance and applicable plan terms.

  • Performance-based bonus or variable compensation as part of a broader total rewards package.

  • Flexible, employee-led remote working model for eligible roles, with offices available for employees who prefer in-person collaboration.

  • Comprehensive health benefits and parental leave programs.

  • Professional development stipend to support continued learning and career growth.

  • Opportunity to work on products combining software, AI, IoT, and real-world operational data at significant scale.

  • High-autonomy environment designed for engineers who want to define technical direction, build new products, and own outcomes.

  • Collaborative culture with opportunities to work closely with Product, Design, Customer Success, and other engineering teams.

  • Commitment to an inclusive workplace where people from diverse backgrounds can contribute and make a meaningful impact.

  • Reasonable accommodations are available throughout the recruiting process for candidates who require them.

How to prepare for a job interview at Jobgether

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Jobgether uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.
