This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Craftsperson/Python/AI based in the United Kingdom. This role sits at the intersection of software engineering and AI-native development, where craftsmanship and automation work hand in hand. You will contribute to building high-quality, scalable systems while actively leveraging AI as a co-creator across the software development lifecycle. Accountabilities
- Own the end-to-end lifecycle of engineering initiatives, ensuring delivery readiness, production stability, and smooth execution across all phases.
- Design and deliver scalable, maintainable features with strong attention to architecture, quality, and long-term sustainability.
- Identify technical, product, and process inefficiencies and proactively drive improvements across teams and systems.
- Use AI tools actively to accelerate design, development, testing, debugging, and delivery workflows.
- Contribute to DevEx and delivery improvements using modern engineering practices, including DORA metrics and flow optimization.
- Support estimation, planning, and vertical slicing discussions to ensure clear, incremental delivery of value.
- Provide technical leadership through mentoring, feedback, and guidance across team and pod-level initiatives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to clarify requirements, resolve ambiguity, and align on outcomes.
- Influence engineering standards including code quality, testing approaches, and system design practices.
Requirements
- 4+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years working hands-on with AI/ML systems in production environments.
- Strong proficiency in Python or TypeScript (with willingness to work across both), and solid fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and software design.
- Hands-on experience building production applications using LLMs (e.g., GPT, Claude, or similar) for tasks such as document processing, extraction, or classification.
- Strong experience in prompt engineering and improving structured outputs from LLMs for real-world business use cases.
- Experience with LLM orchestration tools and frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar, and familiarity with vector databases such as Pinecone, Qdrant, or PgVector.
- Working knowledge of LLMOps practices including CI/CD, prompt versioning, evaluation, monitoring, and cost optimization.
- Experience designing scalable backend systems, APIs, and data pipelines in production environments.
- Familiarity with Agile/XP practices, continuous delivery, and collaborative engineering workflows.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional, client-facing environments.
- Experience using version control systems (Git), writing technical documentation, and working in modern cloud-based infrastructure.
