Accountabilities

Requirements

  • Proven portfolio of published articles, reporting, analysis, or commentary pieces.
  • Strong understanding of the US political system, institutions, parties, elections, and major policy discussions.
  • Excellent research, reporting, fact-checking, and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to clearly distinguish verified information, reported claims, analysis, and opinion.
  • Strong editorial judgment with the ability to identify relevant and meaningful story angles.
  • Exceptional writing skills with excellent grammar, structure, tone, and storytelling ability.
  • Ability to explain complex political topics clearly for a broad audience.
  • Experience working independently while incorporating editorial feedback effectively.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and remain flexible during high-priority news events.
