This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sales Engineering Expert based in Canada.

This contract opportunity is designed for an experienced sales engineering professional with strong expertise in technical pre‑sales and customer‑facing solution design. You will evaluate real‑world sales engineering deliverables and establish precise criteria for assessing their quality and effectiveness. Your judgment will help distinguish strong technical discovery, solution design, demonstrations, and proof‑of‑concept work from weaker approaches. You will assess both AI‑generated and human‑created work using consistent, evidence‑based standards. The role requires a balance of technical depth, commercial awareness, and exceptional written communication. Working remotely and collaboratively, you will contribute to high‑impact evaluation projects while continuously refining your approach through expert feedback and calibration.

Accountabilities:

  • Design precise, task‑specific grading criteria for real‑world pre‑sales, solutions engineering, and technical sales deliverables.
  • Evaluate and score AI‑generated and human‑produced work samples against established criteria, providing detailed and evidence‑based justifications.
  • Assess technical discovery, solution design, customer requirement analysis, product demonstrations, proof‑of‑concept work, and technical objection handling.
  • Apply consistent, objective, and reproducible judgment to ensure evaluation results are defensible and aligned with defined standards.
  • Identify strengths, weaknesses, gaps, and areas for improvement across sales engineering deliverables.
  • Incorporate structured feedback from senior reviewers and rapidly refine evaluation criteria, scoring approaches, and written assessments.
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail throughout evaluation projects.
  • Communicate technical assessments clearly to audiences with varying levels of technical expertise.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of relevant professional experience as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Solutions Consultant, Pre‑Sales Consultant, Technical Sales Consultant, or in a closely related role.
  • Deep expertise in technical pre‑sales, including leading technical discovery, translating customer requirements into product solutions, delivering tailored demonstrations, handling technical objections, supporting proofs of concept, and evaluating product fit and technical risk.
  • Hands‑on experience with technically complex B2B software, such as SaaS, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, data platforms, developer tools, or enterprise applications.
  • Strong understanding of how technical solutions align with customer requirements, business objectives, implementation considerations, and commercial outcomes.
  • Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and critical‑thinking skills, with the ability to make evidence‑based assessments.
  • Highly detail‑oriented and consistent, with the ability to apply evaluation criteria objectively across multiple work samples.
  • Comfortable having professional judgment reviewed, calibrated, and refined through peer and senior‑reviewer feedback.
  • Prior experience with AI training, AI evaluation, human‑data projects, or similar quality‑assurance workflows is preferred.

Benefits:

  • Competitive contract compensation of $100–$150 per hour.
  • Fully remote work environment.
  • Flexible, project‑based working structure.
  • Opportunity to apply specialized sales engineering expertise to emerging AI technologies.
  • Exposure to diverse technical pre‑sales scenarios and real‑world B2B software use cases.
  • Opportunity to contribute to the development of rigorous AI evaluation methodologies.
  • Collaborative calibration and feedback environment with experienced reviewers.
  • Independent work structure with flexibility around project assignments and deliverables.
