We are currently looking for a Senior Back-End Software Engineer, Infra in the United Kingdom. We are seeking a Senior Back-End Software Engineer to help scale and modernize the core infrastructure of a high-growth platform. In this role, you will take ownership of the Rails stack, ensuring it is robust, performant, and secure while building internal tools to improve developer efficiency. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize infrastructure, reduce third-party dependencies, and contribute to architectural decisions that impact platform scalability. This position is fully remote, with a fast-paced, autonomous environment that encourages innovation, proactive problem solving, and a focus on long-term impact. The role offers the opportunity to influence key systems and shape the foundation for the next stage of growth.
Accountabilities
- Maintain, upgrade, and optimize the Rails back-end stack, including dependency management and security improvements.
- Build internal tools, SDKs, and libraries to enhance developer experience and platform scalability.
- Partner with front-end engineers and SREs to support observability, performance, and reliability initiatives.
- Identify and implement in-house solutions to reduce reliance on third-party services and infrastructure costs.
- Contribute to architectural decisions that improve performance, security, and cost-efficiency of the platform.
- Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing, and mentoring to maintain high engineering standards.
Requirements
- 5+ years of back-end engineering experience, ideally focused on infrastructure or platform systems.
- Deep expertise in Ruby on Rails with a focus on infrastructure and architectural improvements.
- Strong experience with relational databases such as MySQL and Postgres.
- Proven track record of improving system performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Comfortable working autonomously in a fast-paced, fully remote environment.
- Strong alignment with company values and a collaborative mindset.
- CEFR C2 / ILR 5 English proficiency.
