The Role
The Business Analyst is a newly created role in our growing consulting business and will play a key role in shaping and delivering secure digital products and services within classified government environments.
As a Business Analyst, you will work closely with customer, delivery and technical stakeholders to translate mission needs into clear, actionable outcomes.
You’ll be central to driving requirements discovery, aligning delivery across Agile teams and ensuring that products are designed and delivered with both user needs and operational context in mind.
This is a hands‑on role suited to someone who is confident engaging directly with customers, guiding delivery teams and continuously improving ways of working.
You’ll take ownership of activities such as stakeholder engagement, backlog management, process analysis and defining user needs and acceptance criteria—ensuring the right outcomes are delivered in complex, secure settings.
Typical responsibilities include
- Supporting product management and business analysis within Agile delivery teams
- Eliciting, analysing and validating user, business and technical requirements
- Developing and managing product backlogs, user stories and acceptance criteria
- Driving improvements in Agile delivery, stakeholder forums and governance processes
- Collaborating with data, UX, software and platform teams to deliver mission‑aligned solutions
- Job Responsibilities
- Elicit, analyse and manage business, user, data and technical requirements, ensuring they are clearly documented, validated and aligned to mission outcomes.
- Translate requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps and supporting delivery artefacts.
- Develop, refine and maintain product backlogs, supporting prioritisation based on value, urgency and delivery constraints.
- Collaborate with Product Owners and Agile teams to support sprint planning, backlog refinement and delivery alignment.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement, workshops and forums to ensure shared understanding and effective decision‑making.
- Drive continuous improvement in Agile ways of working, governance and team collaboration.
- Act as a bridge between business, design, data and engineering teams, ensuring solutions align with user needs and operational context.
- Support testing and assurance activities by clarifying expected behaviours, acceptance criteria and business rules.
- Manage requirement changes, dependencies, risks and assumptions throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Skills Required
- Experience working within the UK Security & Intelligence, defence or other secure government environments.
- Strong background in business analysis, product management and Agile delivery, with the ability to operate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Proven ability to elicit, analyse and manage complex requirements, translating them into clear user stories, acceptance criteria and delivery artefacts.
- Experience managing and refining product backlogs, supporting prioritisation and aligning delivery to user needs and mission value.
- Solid understanding of Agile frameworks (e. g. Scrum, Kanban), including sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews and retrospectives.
- Ability to engage and influence stakeholders, facilitating product discussions, workshops and delivery forums.
- Good awareness of working with software engineering, data, testing and Dev Ops teams within digital delivery environments.
- Experience in process mapping, workflow analysis and capturing business rules, with an emphasis on traceability and change control.
- Security Clearance Requirements
The successful candidate must hold a current high level security clearance.
Location
It is anticipated the role will require up to 80% (4d/wk) onsite working at client locations – Cheltenham, London, Manchester (based on project requirements).
