This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Design Expert based in Canada.

This contract opportunity is designed for an experienced design professional with a strong understanding of visual systems, brand expression, and creative quality.

You will evaluate both AI-generated and human-created design work against precise, task-specific criteria.

Your expertise will help distinguish strong professional design judgment from generic or inconsistent outputs across real-world creative deliverables.

You will assess work such as brand identity systems, campaign visuals, packaging concepts, and related design materials.

The role combines creative expertise with structured evaluation, analytical thinking, and evidence-based decision-making.

Working remotely and asynchronously, you will help improve the quality and performance of AI-generated design while contributing to increasingly rigorous evaluation standards.

  • Accountabilities
  • Develop precise, task-specific grading criteria for real-world design deliverables, including brand identity systems, visual guidelines, campaign assets, and packaging concepts.
  • Evaluate AI-generated and human-created design samples against established criteria and professional standards.
  • Assign consistent, evidence-based scores and provide detailed written justifications explaining the reasoning behind each evaluation.
  • Assess typography, layout, visual hierarchy, color, composition, consistency, brand expression, and overall creative effectiveness.
  • Apply professional design judgment to distinguish high-quality, purposeful work from generic, inconsistent, or poorly executed outputs.
  • Ensure evaluations are reproducible, defensible, and aligned with defined grading frameworks.
  • Incorporate structured feedback from senior reviewers and refine evaluation criteria and scoring approaches as needed.
  • Work independently and asynchronously while managing deadlines and maintaining consistent quality across assignments.
  • Contribute insights that help improve AI model performance and the quality of design-related training and evaluation data.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience in graphic design, brand design, visual design, art direction, or a closely related discipline .
  • Background working at a leading design studio, creative agency, consumer brand, technology company, or in a senior design position with comparable standards.
  • Deep expertise in typography, layout, visual hierarchy, color theory, composition, brand systems, and visual communication.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating professional-level design judgment and experience developing or evaluating sophisticated visual work.
  • Exceptionally strong written communication skills, with the ability to explain creative decisions and evaluation judgments clearly and objectively.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities alongside a highly developed visual eye.
  • Detail-oriented and consistent, with the ability to apply defined criteria reliably across different design tasks.
  • Comfortable having professional judgment reviewed, calibrated, and refined through structured feedback.
  • Able to work independently and asynchronously while meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Prior experience with AI training, evaluation, human-data projects, or related workflows is preferred.
