Backend Engineer – Node.js/TypeScript (EMEA) We are looking for a Backend Engineer who will contribute to building high‑performing backend systems that power global‑scale products. You will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to design reliable APIs, improve performance, and deliver features that support a rapidly expanding user base. Responsibilities Collaborate with frontend, design, QA, and product teams to deliver seamless user and system experiences. Participate in product planning from discovery to deployment, contributing across the full software development lifecycle. Develop new backend features and APIs, enhance existing functionalities, and troubleshoot bugs in fast‑paced release cycles. Ensure robust and customer‑centric engineering, maintaining high quality and reliability across backend services. Contribute to system scalability, performance optimization, and architectural improvements. Support smooth integration with other internal systems, ensuring consistent delivery standards. Requirements Strong expertise in backend development with Node.js and TypeScript, along with proficiency in at least one additional server‑side language. Advanced SQL experience, particularly with PostgreSQL, including query optimization, modeling, and migrations. Solid understanding of object‑oriented programming and design patterns, especially when extending complex class structures. Experience designing scalable, high‑performance systems that handle large transaction volumes, concurrency, and idempotency. Strong API development skills, including input validation, security best practices, JWT authentication, and queue‑based patterns. Minimum of 4 years of professional experience as a software engineer. Excellent communication, autonomy, remote collaboration skills, and a customer‑focused mindset. Ability to explain complex concepts clearly to technical and non‑technical stakeholders. Positive, solution‑oriented attitude and a business‑focused approach to engineering decisions. Nice to Have Experience working with SaaS products operating at scale. Familiarity with serverless architectures on AWS. Understanding of fintech systems and sector‑specific challenges.
