This is a detail-oriented remote accounting role within a growing real estate finance environment, focused on supporting accurate and efficient property management accounting operations. You will play a key part in maintaining financial integrity across multiple property portfolios by ensuring transactions are correctly recorded, reconciled, and reported. The role requires hands-on experience with AppFolio and strong familiarity with real-estate accounting workflows. You will contribute directly to month-end close processes, financial reporting, and day-to-day bookkeeping accuracy. Working closely with a collaborative accounting team, you will help identify discrepancies, resolve issues, and improve financial clarity across systems. Accountabilities
- Manage and support accounting workflows within AppFolio, ensuring accurate processing of property management financial transactions.
- Prepare, assist with, and review monthly financial statements, including participation in month-end and year-end close processes.
- Record, classify, and reconcile transactions across general ledger accounts, including bank, escrow, trust, tenant, and owner accounts.
- Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bookkeeping operations with accuracy and consistency.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial data, escalating issues when necessary to ensure timely resolution.
- Work with supporting tools such as QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, Keeper, Teamwork, and other internal platforms.
- Follow established accounting procedures, communication standards, and productivity tracking requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is required.
- Hands-on experience using AppFolio for real-estate accounting is mandatory.
- Strong background in accrual accounting and full-cycle accounting processes beyond basic AP/AR tasks.
- Proven experience in account reconciliation, including bank, escrow, trust, tenant, owner, and balance sheet accounts.
- Strong Excel skills for financial analysis, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Experience preparing financial statements and supporting month-end and year-end close processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to independently investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Strong written communication skills and confidence in asking clarifying questions when needed.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy, accountability, and minimal supervision.
- Experience working with U.S.-based teams or U.S. accounting standards is preferred.
