We are looking to recruit a Training & Development Manager to lead on all aspects of L&D activity on site, promoting compliance, competence & capability. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects and contribute to our mission to provide the most advanced and highest quality manufacturing and production facilities in the UK. With an ambitious growth plan, enabled by our industry-leading international experience and the most innovative and sustainable technologies, we are seeking industry professionals who will grow with the business and create a sustainable future operation. This position is located in Deeside, Flintshire, North Wales.
What you’ll do:
- Develop and lead on an L&D Framework to support strategic objectives (commissioning / start-up / future proofing)
- Develop departmental Policies and Procedures and promote through onboarding and coaching as required
- Develop an L&D Team to support delivery of L&D priorities across the SML site
- Develop L&D Solutions that support every level of ability and practical application
- Develop and promote a learning culture through coaching and mentorship leading to a robust pipeline of future talent
- Build relationships with key stakeholders to ensure knowledge, skills and behaviours are incorporated into all L&D activity
- Support site ‘Technical Expertise’ to introduce new technology (advanced materials and manufacturing) as the site grows
- Support introduction of Lean Manufacturing through world class methodologies (Kaizen, 6S, Six Sigma)
- Support the onboarding process with ‘fit for purpose’ learning interventions
- Support ‘Traineeships’ (Apprentices / Interns / Graduates) with robust development plans aligned to succession / talent planning
- Develop and maintain:
- a comprehensive competency & skills matrix that reflect role requirements that managers use to benchmark compliance and training needs
- a training budget with regular reviews & reporting
- an evaluation process that improves / consolidates learning transfer
- new ways of accessing learning (Intranet / gamification / simulation / virtual reality)
- relationships with local authority providers, professional institutes and Welsh assembly funding routes.
Maintain professional competence that will guide SML on trends / forecasts & funding pots.
Professional Requirements:
- CIPD or similar L&D qualification
- Minimum 5 years’ experience within a L&D role in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience of working within the paper industry would be advantageous.
- Previous experience and understanding of Apprenticeship schemes & working with colleges.
- Ability to lead working groups and engage leaders by coaching/mentoring to deliver training requirements.
- IT literate with previous experience of using HR packages – HR SAP experience advantageous
- Highly motivated, agile with a personable proactive approach who is willing to learn and grow within a developing & growing business.
- Flexible, with a can-do attitude who works well within a team and can lead change where required.
Working Conditions:
You will initially be based within the project village on a site undergoing significant construction work. Once the new PM3 building is complete, we will be moving into a brand-new facility. You will be required to travel within UK and Overseas as required.
