This post has been developed as part of the ongoing review of Greater Manchester major trauma provision, to ensure optimal care and outcomes for all patients across the service. Main duties of the jobLead the provision of neurosurgical care and input for adult major trauma patients on ORC in collaboration with the main adult neurosurgical service at Salford Royal Hospital. Independent general paediatric neurosurgical practice at RMCH with own inpatients, outpatient clinics, theatre, and on-call activity. Participate in the teaching and mentoring of resident doctors, contributing to the professional development of the department. Engage in continuous professional development, revalidation, and keep up-to-date with the latest developments in paediatric neurosurgery and adult neurotrauma. Person specificationQualifications and TrainingMedical Degree Completed a substantial amount of medical work (either as a continuous period or in aggregate) since obtaining a primary medical qualification or in possession of a CCT/CESR in Neurosurgery Demonstratable experience in paediatric neurosurgery, and meets the criteria set out in the generic capabilities framework for the specialist grade. Demonstratable experience working at Specialty Registrar and/or Specialist Doctor grades in paediatric neurosurgery including suitability for independent practice. MRCS FRCS APLS accreditation Additional higher medical / scientific degree AuditEvidence of and commitment to clinical audit Interpersonal skillsOrganisation Skills Communication Skills Other RequirementsCandidates must be eligible for their own GMC registration: an active licence, ceased license or pending application with the GMC at the point of application.
