Job Profile Summary
Working within the Marine Specialty department as a Senior Underwriter for Marine Cargo and Freight Liability business. This position will focus on a UK-based book of business, and we are open to the location of where the role will be based.
Job Description
- Develop existing broker relations to maintain and expand current book of business.
- Generate new business opportunities in line with Lonham growth strategy.
- Gain knowledge of and articulate Lonham client proposition.
- Underwriting, reviewing new and renewal risks, taking into account type of risk, nature of cargo, limits, voyages, stock locations, turnover, rating guidelines and claims experience.
- Production and distribution of policy documentation.
- Input and maintain accurate records within the Underwriting and Accounts systems and capture relevant data to allow for the successful monitoring and analysis of risks written.
- Monitor risks written that are due for renewal.
- Prepare reports and statistical information as required by the Underwriters.
- Liaise with brokers and policy holders to obtain information to provide a quote and produce insurance documentation.
- Chase for outstanding premium/adjustments/declarations.
- Raise invoices/credits as required in relation to the policy wording.
- Liaise with other departments in Lonham and Chaucer as required.
- Liaise with brokers and clients to develop good working relationships.
- Attend training sessions and other meetings, as and when required.
Regulatory Responsibilities
- Comply with all policies and procedures and ensure that due regard is paid to providing good customer outcomes and the fair treatment of customers.
- Manage the relationships with Customers, Agents and Service Providers: Advise, assist and service customers on insurance and risk matters to promote customers' satisfaction; Foster positive relationships with Customers and attain an understanding of their needs; Ensure that Customer Complaints are promptly identified, recorded and referred as appropriate; and, Complete all required annual product review assessments to agreed timescales with approvals obtained and recorded.
- Follow all Chaucer Group Product Governance processes in the UCM and obtain appropriate approvals.
- Ensure that the principles of providing good customer outcomes and the fair treatment of customers are upheld by Agents and Service Providers.
Skills and Competencies
- Relevant Cargo and Freight Liability experience.
- An aptitude for developing and maintaining good client relationships.
- Experience of negotiating with brokers and liaising with clients.
- Understanding of business planning process.
