Due to rapid business expansion, we are hiring again! This will be the first of a series of ‘territory’ roles we’ll be recruiting for. The candidate for this one must live in the greater London / wider SE England region.

ABOUT US

We are the exclusive and official distributor for the Nestle Damak brand in the UK. Damak is the world’s no1 (and oldest!) pistachio chocolate brand. Since launching less than a year ago, it has taken the UK by storm. We’ve sold millions of bars, achieved great distribution in the wholesale and independent retail channel, and have a rate-of-sale that means we are now in the ‘must stock' league for any good confectionery buyer. But we’re still a young and small business. Our potential is immense. We’re just getting started.

We’re now expanding our team to get ready for the next phase of growth. Like any business which scales rapidly, it’s exciting and rewarding but also really hard graft and can be frustrating. We juggle a lot at once. This isn’t a comfy big corporate where plans are given to you on a plate. We’ll grow by making Damak massive in the UK - a true household name, but also will expand our portfolio of winning brands in the food & drinks / FMCG sector. Our pipeline is exciting. Our competitors won’t know what’s about to hit them.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

This is a busy, 'hands on' role which will be 90% field based. A rare opportunity to take massive ownership, deliver big results and be part of the most exciting chocolate brand innovations to hit the market in recent times. This role will have full territory ownership for a critical part of our business - the wholesale / cash and carry sector, in the 'south' of the UK. This is mainly London and the South East, but will involve some limited business travel across all of southern England and South Wales.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Regular, planned visits to all wholesale depots. Ensuring perfect point of purchase standards, making sure our brands get the display they deserve, on and off the shelf. Maintaining great, authentic relationships with depot managers and section leads. You’ll be on the lookout for new opportunities and fix any issues that need dealing with. Ultimately, you’ll ensure first class brand display and, in turn, big growth numbers.
  • Owning and executing other business development initiatives in your territory - for example, running sampling events, and doing van sales 'blitz' activity to build distribution in independent and symbol retailers. You will also be empowered to go and win new accounts, launch new products etc.
  • Supporting the Sales Director - who you’ll report to - on other big national account roll-outs (such as Booker Tesco Group) and top secret innovation trials as we build our product pipeline for the future.
  • Supporting the wider management team as required on general business activity - national trade shows, conferences and so on.
  • Growing in your own role … the right candidate can rapidly assume responsibility for FULL account management of some accounts in the territory. The exact nature of this role depends on YOU - it is what you make it.

ABOUT THE CANDIDATE WE HAVE IN MIND

MUST HAVES… You must love - not like - influencing and selling. Love merchandising. Love seeing brands and business grow from small acorns. Love hard work and making a difference. Relentless for more than just a 9-5 job. Love being part of a team, but comfortable spending most of the time working alone. Love working on big brands but in a small team and a scale-up, entrepreneurial environment.

You must have a full UK driving license and be comfortable driving a Transit sized van, for both local and where required, occasional longer distance driving. You must live somewhere in / around where most of your accounts will be e.g. Greater London, Herts, Middlesex, Beds, Bucks, Berks, Essex. Please do not apply if you don’t meet the above ‘must have’ requirements in full.

WE’RE FLEXIBLE ON… Qualifications not important, but we do require a good standard of English, numeracy, and competence in basic IT. Experience we are totally flexible on - you may be straight out of Uni wanting a first rung on the ladder in a commercial career, or you could be an experienced salesperson wanting a new challenge. Or anything in between. We’re a small business so can mould opportunities around individuals. We like diversity of thought and expedience in our team - it powers our business forward.

BENEFITS

We are advertising this role with a £28,000 - £30,000 salary and £10,000 bonus in mind, candidate dependent. A company van (Ford Transit size) will be provided - you’ll need it to deliver products to some accounts, and transport point-of-sale material to build ridiculously big displays that our customers won’t miss.

PROGRESSION OPPORTUNITIES

We are growing quickly and plan to double-triple our business scale next year. There is no shortage of progression opportunity for the right candidate who delivers great results. This role could easily grow and expand in its own right, and other opportunities will inevitably arise as our business expands. You'll report straight into the Sales Director of the business, so have strong exposure from day one.

HOW TO APPLY

Please apply via LinkedIn. Important - please attach your CV to your application. We will respond to all applications as quickly as we can, within a few days maximum. We’d like to hire asap, but only once we have the right candidate. If you are shortlisted - expect a two stage process: 1/ phone/Teams short informal conversation to start and then 2/ one in-person interview.
