Where will you be working? At M Group Energy, we’re enabling the energy essential to support our lives. We provide an end‑to‑end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation. This role will be within our Metering team – you’ll join the leading provider of metering services in the UK energy retail sector, where we provide efficient and flexible services for gas, electricity and water meters. Our meter readers install, maintain and manage meters to ensure customers are billed correctly and energy usage patterns are monitored.
What will you be doing? As an engineer, you will be responsible for the safe installation, maintenance and removal of smart meters. Provide top‑notch customer service, ensuring all jobs are completed on time and customers understand the benefits and safe usage of their new smart meter. Carry out around five installation and removal jobs per day and have the opportunity to earn an uncapped bonus for extra jobs. Use a tablet to view jobs for the day and plan ahead with a schedule available up to two weeks in advance. Receive continuous training to maintain and develop your skills; 83 % of our field management team have been internally promoted up from a technician. Attend weekly meetings and catch‑ups, with field managers available to offer help or assistance.
What you’ll bring: Valid UK driving licence (must have held the licence for one year and have less than six points). Qualifications: CCN1 / CMA1 / CMA3 with MET1, or NVQ Level 2 in Smart Metering Dual Fuel. Experience installing gas and electric smart meters. Previous MOCOPA experience to a multi‑rate level. Bonus qualifications that are not required for application: REGT1, 3‑phase, registration on the EUSR portal.
