Airband are now recruiting a Fibre Splicer to be part of our mission to Bring Better Broadband to Rural Communities! Permanent Position covering South West/Devon - £31,000 to £33,000 depending on experience + discretionary annual bonus + vehicle + great benefits.
What we need from you?
- We are looking for an experienced Fibre Splicer to support the implementation of our projects, mainly using the Openreach OH/UG infrastructure under PIA, as well as to maintain new and existing networks in the South West/Devon.
- Applicants must have splicing experience and a good understanding of Fibre network build.
- Experienced in building/splicing splice closures and splicing in CBTs/DPs.
- Fault finding and resolving fibre breaks and issues.
You will be part of a dedicated Team delivering high standards of connectivity through a mixture of technologies to our rural communities.

Your Experience?
- Knowledge of or currently be working to PIA standards.
- In-depth understanding and experience of IT networking (TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, Switches, Routers, PoE, Fibre optic networks, Client/server).
- Experience and certifications in the installation and maintenance of fibre optic networks, Fusion Splicing, OTDR testing, particularly PIA qualifications.
- Lots of motivation when lone working but also be a great team player.
- Ability to analyse and solve problems whilst under pressure.
- Comfortable working at heights.
- Self-motivated with a high degree of initiative.
- A genuine interest in the IT sector with the ability to suggest and implement new technologies as they emerge.
- Able to manage your own workload and hit the ground running.
- Ability to motivate and meet tight deadlines, always ensuring work is completed to a high standard whilst health and safety standards are met.

What will the role involve?
- Fusion splicing.
- OTDR use.
- Installation of Customer Termination Point.
- Be able to build & deliver successful first-time fibre infrastructure to current PIA standards.
- Testing & commissioning of Fibre Network Infrastructures.
- Troubleshooting individual and wider network issues.
- Liaising with both colleagues and customers; keeping in regular contact with office staff.
- Being punctual and conducting all work to high standards of neatness.
- OOH on call work may be required on a rota basis.
- Ensure the appropriate H&S is adhered to.
- Correct use of safety equipment and procedures.
