This global offshore law firm is committed to investing in its business by investing in its people. Lawyers like it here for its high-quality work and competitive salaries, but also for its supportive culture and a determination to give everyone the chance to reach their professional potential. Its BVI office fits the wider mould perfectly.
Professionally, it offers the chance to join a great team that advises an international client base on a wider range of work than you would get in any major onshore firm. You will find yourself advising on all sorts of high-value corporate and finance matters, not to mention cutting edge work in the fast-growing BVI investment funds and digital assets sector. It’s going to be exciting for someone who gets a buzz out of learning on the job and doing work they haven’t always done before.
On the personal front, for the right person, this is a life changing move. It’s not for everyone. If you’re into long-commutes to a soulless firm, grey skies, high-tax bills, and excessive working hours, this is probably not your scene. For the rest, if there’s not a reason you can’t do it, you really might want to check it out.
Requirements- Admitted in the BVI or UK (required for work permit).
- Likely to suit someone with around 4-6 years’ PQE but this is only a guideline and all suitable applicants will be considered.
- Good corporate experience with a respected commercial law firm in the UK or equivalent overseas.
- Some prior experience of investment funds and/or crypto/digital assets work would be ideal but isn’t essential if you are interested, and happy to learn.
- Attractive salary with very low tax rate and a reasonable cost of living.
- Full benefits and bonus scheme.
- Relocation package (flights + temporary accommodation on arrival + expenses allowance).
- All interviews will take place by videoconference.
- Start dates negotiable (depending on your notice period).
- Our clients provide comprehensive assistance with visas and relocation.
For some, the BVI is the pick of the Caribbean. A mountainous, rain forested interior surrounded by picture-postcard bays, it is probably not far from the idyllic image that might cross your mind when you ponder whether there is ‘more to life’. It’s not for everyone. You will need to be comfortable with a slower pace, you will see its remoteness as a gift rather than an inconvenience, and you will be the sort of person who gets more out of sailing, diving, or relaxing on the beach than you do from the buzz of city life. If that’s you, you will love it here. Not to mention that the work, much of it emanating out of China/Asia, is some of the most interesting and challenging in the sector.
