We are seeking a dynamic Public Health professional totake up this exciting role in a first-rate Public Health Team in a county wherewe can really make a difference Main duties of the jobAbout the Role As a Consultant in Public Health, you will be a core memberof the Public Health Directorate Leadership Team within Oxfordshire CountyCouncil. It is expected that, in addition to representing publichealth in key meetings within the council and wider system, your Consultant inPublic Health initial job plan will have a number of responsibilities. You willlead the substance use portfolio, delivering on national strategic prioritiesthrough the Combating Drugs Partnership which attract additional grantfunding. This includes working in partnership with the NHS, social care andcriminal justice on a harm reduction and prevention approach to drug and alcoholuse.You will also provide leadership for intelligence, surveillance andevaluation, as well work towards embedding health impact evaluation to evidencethe prevention approach across organisational boundaries.Your work will supportdelivery of the Health and Wellbeing Board, whilst embedding a Marmot approachto address local inequalities. You will be managing a team of around than 10people. The Consultant in Public Health post will contribute topublic health teaching and audit and the management of public health staff inline with lead areas and will report to the Deputy Director of Public Health. Based in Oxford, you will be encouraged to form strategicrelationships with local organisations across the County in order to developjoint work interests which align with the Councils priorities. Job responsibilitiesAbout you As a qualified Consultant in Public Health you will be expected to have the full range of skills and experience to lead across the broad spectrum of public health and to be able to flex lead areas as required. To be successful in the role, you will have: a clear grounding in public health principles a sound understanding of Local Government, the NHS and partnership working the ability to influence, persuade and make change the ability to deliver targets and meet deadlines the ability to combine an approach grounded in public health skills with top quality management, partnership and commissioning skills.
