At wagamama, we’re an eating house for the soul. With over 165 UK restaurants and growing, our purpose is to nourish the world from bowl to soul, inspired by fast-paced Japanese ramen bars since 1992.

We’re looking for an insights + commercial strategy director to join us on our continuous journey of true nourishment. This role will be the voice of the customer, connecting all customer data to drive valuable insights and convert that insight into tangible action to ensure that we deliver accelerated customer-led growth that enables wagamama to continue to outperform the market.

This role is also accountable for developing, in partnership with the chief marketing + commercial officer and the exec, the 3-year growth strategies against the five key battle grounds, which include:

  • Reset value proposition
  • Healthier / lighter
  • Win share with loyal guests

Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing all customer data and insight from various sources, ensuring all strategies and initiatives have the customer at heart.
  • Applying new technologies such as AI for customer insight and social listening.
  • Co-creating customer-led growth strategies, including menu growth.
  • Defining the optimum commercial construct of our loyalty program, Soul Club, to drive sustainable profitable growth.
  • Leading pricing and promotion strategy and execution.
  • Managing out of restaurant commercial growth, with a focus on delivery.
  • Coaching, leading, and developing a team of high-potential individuals.

Requirements:

  • A customer-led leader with over 10 years of experience in insight and strategy.
  • Insight-led with prior experience of running an insight team.
  • Commercially savvy with strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Skilled at converting data from multiple sources into meaningful action.
  • Past experience managing commercial growth partners, ideally with delivery partners.
  • Creative thinker who challenges the status quo.
  • Confidence and experience presenting the wagamama brand in internal and external forums.
