Are you the final guardian of quality and security before takeoff? Join our team as the last set of expert eyes. In this critical role, you will thoroughly inspect every supply entering the aircraft for unauthorized items, maintaining the highest flight safety standards.
Main purpose and responsibilities
As the final link in the security chain, you are responsible for ensuring the integrity of the In-Flight Supplies (IFS). Your primary goal is to prevent prohibited articles from entering the Restricted Zone and the aircraft.
Key Tasks
- Perform rigorous security checks on all flight-ready carts and containers in full accordance with DfT (Department for Transport) regulations.
- Conduct thorough physical searches of meal trolleys and catering equipment to ensure no unauthorized items have been concealed.
- Verify that all supplies - including food, beverages, and duty-free goods - arrive from 'Known Suppliers' with the correct security seals intact.
- Meticulously check and document security seal numbers against delivery manifests to ensure the 'Chain of Custody' has not been broken.
- Identify and elevate any discrepancies, signs of tampering, or the presence of prohibited items (e.g., weapons, explosives, or unauthorized electronics).
- Monitor the loading process of carts onto high-loaders to ensure items remain secure from the catering facility to the aircraft side.
Shift Pattern
Weekend duties rotate. Shift pattern may change based on business operational needs.
Pay Rate: £14.55 ph
Location: Gate Gourmet, Brocks Way, Broxburn, Edinburgh Airport, EH52 5NB
Working Environment: Ability to work within a cold environment (PPE supplied by company).
Essential Vetting and Security Requirements (MANDATORY)
- 5-Year UK Activity History: You must be able to provide a continuous, verifiable five-year history of employment, education, and addresses within the UK. If you have lived abroad for more than six months during this period, an Overseas Criminal Record Check is mandatory.
- Criminal Record Check (DBS): A Basic DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check is mandatory. This check will be processed as part of the vetting procedure by us and is required for airside security access. Candidates must not have any unspent convictions that would affect this clearance.
- Right to Work: All applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
AVSEC training provided before start day.
