Job Opportunity – Part Time VAT Specialist – Fully Remote

One of my local Government clients are currently on the lookout for an Interim VAT Specialist to join their team.

Contract Length: 6 Months

Pay Rate: DOE

IR35: To be confirmed

Days: Ideally X2-3 p/w

Start Date: Mid July. Fully Remote

You will be responsible for:

  • Monthly VAT returns.
  • Compliance testing.
  • CIS.
  • Reviewing VAT reports from the system and flagging inconsistencies/improvements.
  • Act as the first point of contact for any VAT advice.
  • Partial exemptions.
  • Options to tax.
  • VAT Project work, liaising with different services and advising on VAT associated with this.

This is very much more of a strategical role and the council are after a VAT Accountant who can consult and deal with complex queries. Whilst being hands on will also be needed for the role there is a Finance Admin in position who can assist with more junior VAT tasks.

Successful candidates will:

  • Have previous experience working as a VAT Accountant performing the above tasks within a local authority setting. – Essential.
  • Applicants do not necessarily need to be fully qualified accountants as the client is happy to consider candidates who are part qualified or qualified by experience.
