I am currently recruiting on behalf of an Automotive OEM, based in Leamington Spa, who are seeking a Toolchains & Process Management Engineer to join their team.
Job Description
As Toolchains & Process Management Engineer, your main responsibilities are:
- Oversee and optimise the selection, configuration, and maintenance of software development, integration, and testing tools (e.g., version control, build automation, static analysis, debugging, and CI/CD tools).
- Define, implement, and continuously improve software development processes, including requirements gathering, design, coding, testing, and release management, ensuring they align with industry standards.
- Work with cross-functional teams to integrate various tools into a cohesive software development and testing ecosystem, ensuring seamless communication and data flow between the different tools and processes.
- Collaborate with systems and software engineers, to understand their needs and provide guidance and support in the use of tools and best practices for process management.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation related to toolchains, processes, workflows, and guidelines to ensure transparency and facilitate knowledge sharing across teams.
Qualifications / Skills needed
- Bachelor's degree in software engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Extensive experience managing and optimizing toolchains in an automotive or embedded systems environment, ensuring alignment with industry standards.
- Practical knowledge of tools such as version control (e.g., Git), build automation (e.g., Jenkins), CI/CD, static analysis, and debugging, along with experience configuring and maintaining them.
- Ability to define, implement, and manage development processes across teams, focusing on quality, efficiency, and effective documentation.
- Demonstrates expertise in process improvement frameworks, which can enhance efficiency and quality within the toolchain ecosystem.
