Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are actively looking for a Paralegal to join our legal counsel and either be based in the office or work remotely. As part of the Legal Group, the Paralegal provides legal assistance to corporate lawyers and contractual support to internal project teams.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Acts as liaison between company lawyers, outside counsel and clients.
  • Provide day to day legal support for internal project teams in our Spanish entity and support company lawyers and employees in other company entities as required.
  • Assembles, proofs and edits drafts of contracts, licenses and other appropriate legal documents.
  • Prepares and files legal documents with appropriate entities, as required.
  • Analyze and provide a review for English speaking lawyers and employees for any contracts and legal documents received in Spanish.
  • Provides advice and support on Spanish public procurement regulations to ensure company and tender compliance.
  • Conducts research on projects as directed by corporate lawyers.
  • Research, review and ensure the company's compliance with regulations.
  • Assists internally in analyzing documents.
  • Compiles data from trusted legal resources.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Law. A masters degree in Public Procurement is desirable.
  • Law office experience and/or as an in-house company lawyer.
  • 5+ years of experience in the functions described.
  • Fluent in spoken and written Spanish and English.
  • It is essential to have knowledge and experience of Spanish public procurement regulations. It is desirable to have knowledge of online platforms for the presentation of Spanish public offers.
  • Knowledge of office automation equipment/software related to activities.

All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171.

Working conditions:

  • Sedentary for prolonged period of time, interact with clients, and travel occasionally.
  • Hybrid or remote working arrangement.
