UCN is building a global price reporting agency (PRA) for seafood, with nearly 3,700 data sets, including 577 proprietary US wholesale price assessments.UCN data is critical for bringing transparency to the global seafood markets and enabling our customers to make more efficient and informed strategic decisions.Why Join Us…Be at the forefront of price transparency and news reporting in the seafood trade.Join a respected and rapidly growing newsroom covering a globally critical sector.Collaborate with experienced reporters, analysts, and editors around the world.Enjoy opportunities to travel and report from key European seafood hubs.The Role…UCN seeks a commercially minded and enterprising senior price reporter to expand our pricing coverage across Europe, in addition to developing other key global benchmarks involving Asia and Latin America.This pivotal role is focused on building out wholesale price assessments across the EU and FOB, CFR, and CIF prices for seafood shipments destined for the region. In addition, you will be working on other key global seafood benchmarks UCN is already covering and also developing new ones. In addition to price discovery, you’ll turn your market intelligence into news and analysis for our global readership.Key Responsibilities…Developing new benchmark seafood price assessments and coverage for:Wholesale markets across EuropeImport pricing (FOB/CFR/CIF) for delivery to EuropeWriting pricing stories from Undercurrent\’s existing dataWriting weekly market commentaries and contributing to our proprietary pricing platform.Using your beat to generate news stories, including:Supply and demand shiftsMarket disruptionsTrade trends and regulatory changesBecoming a subject matter expert and go-to source for evolving European pricing and trade flows.Build and maintain reliable sourcing networks among European seafood buyers, sellers, and traders.Conduct regular outreach to collect, verify, interpret, and communicate pricing data to key stakeholders.Proficiency with the market, including but not limited to supply statistics, demand drivers, price influences.Produce timely and accurate price reports, news articles, and market analysis.Identify story angles and spin off scoops and exclusives based on pricing trends.Work with editors and data teams to enhance our price portal and coverage.Attend key industry events and conferences in the region as needed.What You Need…3+ years’ experience in commodities reporting with a PRA, market analysis, or trade journalism.Strong understanding of FOB, CFR, and CIF pricing mechanisms.Proven ability to turn market movements into compelling news stories.Excellent sourcing and relationship-building skills.Highly numerate; comfortable using spreadsheets, charts, and trade data.Analytical thinker with the ability to assess market conditions and provide detailed statistical analysis.Fluent English and Spanish are required; proficiency in other European languages (e.g., French, German, and Portuguese) is a plus.
