A leading FMCG business in Nottingham is looking to recruit a Senior Packaging Engineer to lead in the structural design and engineering processes for all of their product packaging. This is an exciting and challenging position, and the job holder will continue to be challenged with an evolving role as the business continues to grow and diversify.
About the role: As the Senior Packaging Engineer, you will be responsible for creating cost improvement strategies for both existing and new package designs that will reduce packaging waste, leading the business towards a more sustainable packaging operation. You will understand the tax implications on plastic packaging and be a key stakeholder in the NPD process, ensuring packaging data and systems are managed and maintained. You will be the main liaison with graphic designers, industrial designers, product engineers, global and regional marketing stakeholders, creative agencies and vendors, taking a lead role in concept, design, prototyping and production reviews.
About the Person: To be considered for this role, you will have experience in a similar role, ideally in consumer products packaging, and have worked with suppliers in the UK, Europe and China. You will have strong working knowledge of the factors that influence success across a wide array of price points, packaging designs, and structures. You will be knowledgeable in packaging software and applications such as CAPE, ArtiosCAD, and Adobe Illustrator and have a sound understanding of regulations and test procedures. You must also be able to demonstrate the ability to work under your own initiative and you will be an excellent communicator with the ability to engage, promote and influence key stakeholders.
What you’ll get in return: The successful applicant will be paid a competitive salary of £40-50,000 dependent on experience, with a benefits package that includes company bonus, contributory pension, generous holiday and a host of other incentives. The company operate a hybrid working week of 3 days in the office.
