The Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic ecologist to join their expanding team as a Principal Consultant. This full-time, permanent role offers the opportunity to lead in providing innovative and sustainable ecological solutions, including Biodiversity Net Gain and protected species management, helping clients navigate environmental regulations and achieve sustainable development.

Your Contribution:

  • Lead and oversee diverse ecological surveys and develop plans to minimise environmental impact.
  • Produce detailed and professional ecological reports, including initial site assessments.
  • Guide and mentor less experienced colleagues to enhance their ecological skills.
  • Communicate with and provide professional guidance to clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Foster and develop positive client relationships while delivering high-quality ecological consulting services.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, or a related field.
  • Minimum four years of professional experience in ecological consulting.
  • Knowledge and experience in protected species and habitat surveys, with strong field skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK ecological legislation and planning policy.
  • Strong technical report writing skills, following CIEEM guidelines.
  • Commercial awareness and client management skills.
  • Ideally, Bat and/or GCN Natural England licences.
  • Full, clean UK driving licence.
  • Membership of CIEEM.
