As a Powertrain Benchmarking Engineer you will work as the Powertrain function Benchmarking engineer and will have the opportunity to be responsible for supporting to evaluate competitor vehicle attribute analysis against the current landscape of powertrain systems majorly focusing on hybrid and electric vehicles for efficiency, performance and systems landscape.
Your responsibilities:
- Perform Benchmarking analysis for Powertrain systems and maintain databases (A2MAC1) up to date with the latest attribute metrics and competitors’ intelligence data.
- Competitor Attribute benchmarking (inclusive of features, physical / virtual testing, measurement and visual assessments as required).
- Support other lead engineers for establishing the attribute targets in the program.
- Perform market trends on global powertrain landscape.
- Have an understanding of market trends in automotive industry and also have understanding of competitor intelligence in various cross collaboration industry forums across world markets.
Your Profile
Essential skills/knowledge/experience:
- Understanding of physics behind vehicle efficiency, cycle energy demand, electric range / Fuel economy / CO2, performance metrics for BEV / Hybrids.
- Knowledge of whole vehicle engineering knowledge and cross functional experience.
- Previous experience of benchmarking of competitor vehicles and maintaining databases like A2mac1.
- Experience of propulsion system benchmarking, focus on xHEV propulsion systems and vehicles analysis.
- Be comfortable operating under fluid and tight deadlines and used to contributing to ensuring that the wider business and other attribute teams are fully engaged and aligned to deliver across an electrified / hybrid vehicle product range.
Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:
- Bachelor's/Masters degree in mechanical / electrical engineering or automotive engineering.
- Working knowledge of JIRA / Confluence / Git.
- Experience in writing Excel Macros, coding with Matlab and/or other coding languages.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
