We are seeking a talented and ambitious Marine Insurance Lawyer (1-8 PQE) to join a top-tier, international insurance law firm in their respected Marine & Energy practice, based in London. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven individual to work within a dynamic team on complex, high-profile matters across the global shipping, offshore energy, and renewables sectors.

About the Role

You will be part of a team that advises major insurers, reinsurers, brokers, and energy companies on a broad range of coverage and liability issues. You'll be handling mainly contentious, but also non-contentious matters, often with an international dimension.

Key areas of focus include:

  • Hull and machinery, freight, cargo and project cargo/DSU
  • Builders' risk, charterers' and ship repairers' liability
  • War and strikes, terrorism, and political risk cover
  • Transport liability related to cargo loss/damage across sea, road, rail, and air
  • Offshore construction and operational risks under builders' risk, WELCAR, and London standard drilling forms
  • Knowledge of the Nordic Plan and EED 8/86 control of well cover is advantageous
  • Renewables project lifecycle advisory - covering offshore/onshore wind, solar, hydro, waste-to-energy, battery storage, CHP, CCS and more

  • Qualified solicitor with 1-8 years' PQE in marine, energy, or insurance law
  • Experience with coverage disputes, liability claims, and policy wordings
  • Solid understanding of offshore energy risks and renewables is highly desirable
  • A strong commercial mindset and the ability to work closely with insurer clients
  • Excellent drafting, analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to manage your own caseload and contribute to business development
