Location: Barrow in Furness – on-site, with some travel required

Our client, an established aerospace & defence engineering firm, require an experienced Infrastructure Support Engineer to join their multi-disciplined team. Positions are available at Senior and Principal Engineer level.

What the role of the Infrastructure Support Engineer entails:

  • Investigating, troubleshooting and resolving issues across hardware, software, networks and operating systems
  • Managing and supporting VMware vSphere infrastructure, including virtual machine creation, virtual network management, cloning, snapshot management, storage management, backups and recovery (HA, DRS)
  • Managing, supporting and administering operating systems (Windows/Linux), including assisting with Preventative Maintenance tasks, installation of software, patching, user account admin (AD), implementing GPO's, hardening and creation of automation scripts (Powershell)
  • Managing and supporting networks (virtual and physical), including troubleshooting issues
  • Creating, updating and maintaining documentation around actions, changes, incidents etc

What experience you need to be the successful Infrastructure Support Engineer:

Essential

  • Sole UK Nationality – UK Eyes Only Project
  • Degree Level qualification in relevant subject
  • Proven experience in 2nd/3rd line IT support, specifically in a Windows and VMware environment
  • Experience with managing virtual environments using VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter (VCP)
  • Solid understanding of Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 configurations and maintenance
  • Experience in systems migration, patch management, and disaster recovery

Desirable

  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) certification
  • Experience administering Enterprise Linux
  • CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCNA (for networking-related tasks)
