The Company Globe 24-7 in partnership with a key mining client, are working together to source an experienced and qualified Environmental Expert for their team in London.

Responsibilities

  • Environmental Governance & Compliance: Provide expert guidance to ensure full compliance with environmental regulations and international standards. Development of internal policies, standards and procedures. Oversee global environmental risk assessments and audits. Ensure all operations are aligned with corporate ESG frameworks and country-specific regulatory requirements.
  • Strategy & Policy Development: Lead the development and implementation of an environmental management policy and standard across global operations. Advise the Head of Technical Services and executive leadership on environmental trends, risks, and innovations in mining. Integrate climate change adaptation, biodiversity protection, and water management into strategic planning.
  • Site Support & Coordination: Collaborate with site environmental teams to support mining license permitting, environmental impact assessments (EIAs), monitoring, and reporting. Standardize and optimize environmental performance metrics and KPIs across operations. Coordinate with HSE, legal, community relations, and technical teams on cross-functional initiatives.
  • Sustainability & Reporting: Contribute to corporate sustainability reports, disclosures, and investor communications by providing updates about environmental performance monitoring. Lead initiatives related to GHG emissions reduction and collaborate with mine closure planning, and responsible tailings management.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (preferred) or Bachelor’s in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geoscience, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive environmental experience in mining, with a strong focus on open-pit operations and international sites.
  • Deep knowledge of global environmental regulations, standards, and best practices in the mining sector.
  • Experience in managing complex environmental issues across jurisdictions and multicultural teams.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.
