Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship: Embedded Electronic Systems Design and Development

Location: Maidenhead SL6 7RJ (training at Newbury College, RG14 7TD)

Hours: Full-time, up to 5 days per week on site (at our offices or college)

Starting Salary: £26,500, rising to c. £40,000 over 4 years

Start Date: On or around September 2025

We’re looking for a curious, committed apprentice to join our supportive, close-knit engineering team and grow into an expert electronics engineer.

This is a four-year degree apprenticeship, combining hands-on experience with expert tuition delivered by our partners at Newbury College, fully funded by AVIRE. You’ll gain a university-level qualification without the debt, while earning a competitive salary that grows as you do.

You’ll be supported every step of the way, joining a collaborative international team that values your ideas, invests in your growth, and trusts you to contribute from day one.

What you’ll do

  • Design and develop electronic systems that keep people safe
  • Break complex problems into manageable pieces, then find elegant ways to solve them
  • Learn programming languages like C, C++, Python, Rust and SPARK
  • Use specialist software (ECAD) to create and test circuit designs
  • Understand real-world engineering factors like thermal design and electromagnetic compatibility
  • Develop test plans, prototypes and products for full-scale manufacture
  • Plan projects, assess risk and manage timelines
  • Learn about international safety regulations and design standards
  • Consider the business side too - including product costing and manufacturing scale-up
  • Most of all, develop into a well-rounded engineer who designs with care, thinks creatively, and acts with purpose

Entry requirements

  • A-Levels: ABB (including Mathematics and another STEM subject)
  • BTEC National Diploma: DDM
  • IB: 30 points with Higher Level Mathematics and Science at Grade 5 or above

  • The right to live and work in the UK
  • The ability to be on site in Maidenhead or Newbury up to 5 days per week
