Main purpose of the post: To lead, manage, deliver and support a council wide expenditure control process which ensures the council meets its financial objectives in a consistent and highly effective manner. To embed the governance and oversight arrangements and to ensure compliance with the spending controls through to service directorate delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead on and deliver council-wide finance transformation projects, as instructed by the Corporate Director of Finance.
  • Work with the Corporate Director of Finance to embed robust governance arrangements for controlling spending across the council.
  • Be responsible for publicising and advising on processes for monitoring and scrutinising all spend across the council to ensure prudent expenditure and value for money for Lambeth residents.
  • Build relationships and work flexibly with a range of stakeholders across the council to embed awareness of and compliance with the new process, more consistent ways of working and high quality outputs.
  • Engage with service directorates to ensure a consistent approach across the council to procuring and commissioning services.
  • Track and develop clear reporting on the council's spend on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis, ensuring transparency.
