Duties include organising and overseeing all statutory testing surveys for authority-owned buildings to ensure full regulatory compliance, such as asbestos re-inspections, man-safe system evaluations, safety glazing assessments, and servicing of roller shutter and automatic doors, to name just a few.
In this position, you will be expected to obtain quotations, initiate purchase orders, and supervise compliance-related activities such as asbestos removal and encapsulation. Responsibilities also include evaluating risk assessments and method statements, as well as authorising the completion of these works.
Principal Accountabilities
- Manage the statutory testing for all local authority buildings to ensure all necessary surveys are undertaken at the required intervals.
- Manage any work that comes from the statutory survey reports.
- Undertake asbestos management in buildings and ensure that the Authority does not breach regulations or expose officers or the public to risk for asbestos.
- Work with colleagues in the authority to manage compliance of buildings with contractual terms of Tenancy agreements, and report breaches to senior management for follow-up action.
- Implement the Division's responsibilities for Health & Safety.
- Adhere to current asbestos regulations, legislation, specifications, British Standards, Codes of practice and CDM Regulations.
- Act as Clerk of Works for compliance-related activities.
