About The Role:
West Sussex County Council, while not a housing authority or provider, involves supporting refugee, resettled and migrant families to find appropriate and affordable accommodation within West Sussex. This role sits within the property and accommodation structure strand, working collaboratively with teams within the Communities directorate and partner District and Boroughs to support families in finding suitable housing.
Responsibilities:
- Secure suitable residential accommodation.
- Overcome barriers to housing and prevent accommodation from ending prematurely.
- Work directly with refugee and migrant individuals and families to support their relocation to the UK.
- Build strong relationships with local estate agents, landlords and the Home Office to secure property within West Sussex.
- Travel throughout the county to locations that may not be easily accessible by public transport.
- Communicate in English with members of the public.
Qualifications:
- Valid UK driving licence.
- Own vehicle.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
