The predicted salary is between 60000 - 80000 £ per year.

To undertake and deliver job evaluation activity to ensure roles are assessed consistently and fairly across the organisation. This includes carrying out evaluations and appeals using agreed methodologies, providing advice and guidance to managers and stakeholders, and ensuring that job evaluation processes are applied consistently in line with agreed schemes, including NJE and Hay, and equality principles. The postholder will also contribute to the effective delivery of pay and reward work and support the continuous improvement of the job evaluation service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake job evaluations across a wide range of roles, using NJE and Hay schemes, across the organisation including schools.
  • Analyse job descriptions, JDQs and supporting evidence to determine appropriate evaluation and appeal outcomes.
  • Apply job evaluation frameworks, procedures and local conventions consistently.
  • Prepare documentation and present findings to job evaluation panels as required.
  • Provide advice and guidance to managers and HR colleagues on job evaluation processes and outcomes.
  • Respond to queries, including those that may require explanation or clarification of decisions.
  • Support the moderation process by providing clear rationale and evidence for evaluation outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records, audit trails and data relating to all job evaluation activity.
  • Contribute to the review and improvement of job evaluation processes, systems and documentation.
  • Support trainee analysts, providing guidance and sharing knowledge where appropriate.
  • Build effective working relationships with managers, HR colleagues and trade union representatives with particular focus on the Council's joint working approach with trade unions.
  • Contribute to pay and reward projects as required.
  • Deputise for the Senior Job Evaluation/QA role as required and where appropriate.

Education and Knowledge:

  • Educated to GCSE/A Level standard (or equivalent experience), with strong analytical capability.
  • Formal training in the application of Hay Guide Chart & National Joint Council (NJC) job evaluation schemes.
  • Understanding of equality, fairness and consistency in pay and grading decisions.
  • Awareness of relevant employment and equal pay legislation (desirable).
  • Understanding of working within defined frameworks, policies and structured processes.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Experience:

  • Experience of undertaking job evaluations or working within a structured analytical or HR environment.
  • Experience of working with data, systems, or reports and applying analytical thinking.
  • Experience of providing advice or guidance to managers or stakeholders.
  • Experience of working in a process-driven environment with defined procedures.
  • Experience within a local authority or public sector setting.

  • Works closely with trainee analysts and contributes to team knowledge sharing.
