Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain full compliance across all fleet activities, including vehicle standards, roadworthiness, inspection schedules, defect reporting, MOT planning, and driver documentation.
  • Developing and implementing fleet strategies to minimise downtime.
  • Oversee fleet audits, evidence submissions, and internal compliance reporting.
  • Coordinating vehicle maintenance, servicing and repairs with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Develop and deliver ongoing compliance briefings, toolbox talks, and refresher programmes.
  • Implementing effective reporting frameworks, analysing fleet data and performance trends.
  • Managing budgets, controlling costs and ensuring financial efficiency.
  • Overseeing accident reporting, insurance claims and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Driving sustainability initiatives, including supporting the transition to low-emission alternatives.
  • Leading the procurement and replacement of fleet vehicles, ensuring value for money and alignment with organisational and environmental goals.
  • Lead and maintain driver compliance frameworks including training, induction, driver assessments, licence checks, and monitoring of driver performance.
  • Oversee the compliance of drivers and vehicles used by casual and essential car users (grey fleet).
  • Oversee the implementation of, and operation of periodic Drug and Alcohol Testing for drivers.
  • The postholder will be required to undertake such other duties commensurate with the grade, and/or hours of work, as may be reasonably required.

Qualifications:

  • ACPC in Road Haulage or Passenger Transport Operations (desirable)
  • Health & safety training or certification
  • Demonstrable experience identified within the section below.

Experience:

  • Experience in fleet compliance.
  • Proven experience managing vehicle lifecycle costs and replacement strategies.
  • Experience managing external suppliers and contracts.
